Melbourne Renegades vs Brisbane Heat

We’ll bring you the live scores of the action throughout this game, with the match starting at 7pm AEDT.
A spot in the final of this second season of the Big Bash League is on the line, and even more vitally, a chance to run shoulders with the world’s elite cricket clubs in the Champions League T20 next season.

With seven wins from eight games, the Melbourne Renegades will be exactly in the frame of mind that should see them through to the final. Especially given their track record at home this season – four wins from as many games.

The Heat will greatly depend on Luke Pomersbach, who has shown some excellent form this season. He enters this game with a match-winning 42-ball 82 against the Hurricanes under his belt, a knock that helped the Heat qualify for this semi-final.

With Ben Cutting returning to the side to join Dan Christian and James Hopes in the bowling line-up, the side has the fire-power but it needs to show more consistency against a side that will be aggressive from the very beginning.

It is Big Bash League 2012-13 semi-final time and the Melbourne Renegades will host the Brisbane Heat in the first of the knock-out games.

The Brisbane Heat sneaked through to the semi-final after an underwhelming start to the competition. They won three of their last four games and possessed the second-best net run-rate in the competition to seal the semi-final deal.

The good news for the Renegades is that Aaron Finch has been dropped from the Australian ODI squad, allowing him to participate in this semi-final. Captain and the side’s best batsman by a distance, his presence will prove to be a huge boost to the side.

While Marlon Samuels’ injury means that he has been ruled out of the competition, his replacement Alex Hales had a BBL start to remember. He thrashed a 52-ball 89 that included eight sixes to win them their match against the Sydney Sixers.

With Ben Rohrer (253 runs) in the middle-order and a bowling attack that consists of Nathan Rimmington, Darren Pattinson, Aaron O’Brien and Mutthiah Muralitharan, the Renegades will be a team to beat.
